I moved into a Deardorf apartment 3 years ago. Since living here my rent went up 3 times. It started at $227 and then $410 and know it is $494. They recertify you according to your income. I gave them all my pay check stubs, taxes etc. They claim I will make $25,000 this year. If I do it is a surprise to me. The apartment is old from the 70s. Nothing has been updated in years. When I moved in the stove was greasy and nasty, bath tub stained and dirty. The bathroom and kitchen floor tile stained and dirty. I asked for the floor to be replaced, which would cost them $60. It was denied but they can charge me the highest rent for a one bedroom. The hallways are dirty and filled with bugs and cigarette butts.Parking has become awful. I think there are people living with residents that do not belong here. Do not rent an apartment from them. Management sucks. I will be moving out once my lease is up.
DO NOT RENT HERE!! I was evicted because I was 2 weeks late according to them. When I had first rented from them I was told that if thought I might be late I should call ahead and get permission. They still evicted me even though the arrangement was made. I came home one day to find a notice that I had 3 days to move out of my home. This is how I found out that the arrangement was not honored. It really upset me because I was trying really hard at that time to get my finances in order after a divorce, foreclosure and unemployment. I was so proud and happy to be heading in the right direction after getting a new job and out of my brother in laws house. For a single mother of three young kids, Deardorf did not care when I called and tried to figure out what happened to the arrangement. They said there was nothing they could do. I also asked why I wasn't notified before an eviction. She said she didn't know and hung up on me. I wound up getting two checks back in the mail. The one that was two weeks late and the one for the current month. I even called to ask why they mailed them back to me and if I should send them back...they said no. End result was I had to move in with my sister. They tried to bill me for almost $3000 saying we had damaged the apartment. All lies! I pride myself on how clean I left that place...it was move in ready. I was only there for 5 months when they did this to me. Nevertheless, due to the fact that it was a legal eviction, it is now on my credit report and I also have to disclose the eviction if I ever fill out a rental application. Bad people...they do not have anyones best interest at heart.
We had a aweful experience with them. The management is very rude, I cannot express that enough. After we moved out we got less than half of our deposit back, we paid our rent on time every month, and even installed a garage door opener, new thermostat, and ceiling fans. We cleaned the apartment and shampooed the carpets before we moved out and we were still charged several bogus fees. I would not recommend Deardorf Properties to anyone. STAY AWAY!
DO NOT rent from these people they are crooks, if they evict you, you still have to pay for the remainder of the lease for not giving them a 30 day notice of moving.
